Show Notes

In this episode, Toria talks to Anoara about metacognition and learns about what it is, what it isn't and how it can support teaching and learning in the classroom.

Anoara is the author of Think!: Metacognition-powered Primary Teaching and is a primary practitioner of fifteen years and an experienced school leader of ten years. Anoara is qualified as a headteacher and is highly experienced at delivering inspiring workshops. She has implemented metacognitive strategies in two schools and has experience leading Year 6, History, English, curriculum, CPD, Pupil Premium, metacognition and attendance and punctuality and remote learning.

As part of her initial degree course, she studied a module of neurology and became fascinated with how the brain works. When she qualified as a teacher, her interest in the uses of cognitive neuroscience grew.

Not only is she passionate about giving children the gift of reading but she is also passionate about women leading in education and well-being. She is a regional leader @WomenEdLondon, is on the steering group @HealthyToolkit and is a founding fellow of The Chartered College of Teaching.
