Show Notes

In this episode, Toria chats to Oxford Owl storyteller Chip Colquhoun – but WHOA! Don't go thinking this is just another chat about ways to present literacy. Chip has spent 15 years helping schools use storytelling to boost attainment in all core curriculum subjects, seeing several raise their OFSTED rating from "Requires improvement" to "Good" or "Outstanding", and conducted the world's first controlled study into the impact of storytelling on primary children (with EU Lifelong Learning) which demonstrated how storytelling can improve test scores.

After Toria and Chip take you on a journey spanning 40,000 years to explore why and how storytelling is such a powerful tool in your classroom, search your podcast player for "Happily Ever Teaching" – a daily podcast hosted by Chip in which teachers give free off-the-shelf lesson ideas for every curriculum subject using story-led learning. You'll find Tiny Voice Talks there too!

To access many more story-led teaching resources from Chip and Epic Tales, including an ever-expanding archive of storytelling videos you can share with your class and a book series illustrated by Winnie the Witch's Korky Paul, head to epictales.co.uk/learning
