In this episode, Toria speak to Penny Whelan about the role of the SENCO and what it really entails. Penny has been teaching for 16 years and is a primary Assistant Headteacher and SENCO. She also carries out some linking work between schools for the Local Authority. Penny is part time and juggles her various roles in school with a toddler at home, working hard to achieve a work life balance. Toria and Penny discuss what a SENCO is and does, and how it can be a difficult and sometimes lonely role.
