In this episode, Toria speaks to Penny Whelan for the second time about the role of the SENCO and what it really entails. Penny has been teaching for 16 years and is a primary Assistant Headteacher and SENCO. She also carries out some linking work between schools for the Local Authority. Penny is part time and juggles her various roles in school with a toddler at home, working hard to achieve a work life balance. Toria and Penny discuss what a SENCO is and does, and how it can be a difficult and sometimes lonely role.
